We recognize that climate change related natural disasters and being in a state of climate emergency can lead to feelings of stress, worry, sadness and hopelessness. This is normal. One way to deal with this is to get engaged, talk with others, and be part of contributing to positive change. If negative feelings persist or feel overwhelming:
- UBC Vancouver campus students can call Empower Me (1-844-741-6389) for 24/7 support, virtually drop by the Wellness Centre in UBC Life, or access additional mental health resources.
- UBC Okanagan campus students can call Empower Me (1-844-741-6389) for 24/7 support, visit the online Health & Wellness Centre, or take advantage of additional mental health resources.
- Faculty and staff on both campuses (and those working in satellite off-campus sites) have access to counselling services through UBC’s Employee and Family Assistance Program 24/7 by calling 1-800-387-4765. They can also explore other workplace health and wellbeing resources.
